I hope that this finds you all doing well! I am thrilled to be joining you all as your parochial vicar this July while working
alongside the pastor, Fr. McCullough. In a certain sense it is a home coming because I was baptized at St. James on June 28, 1992, and it is still the home parish of my grandfather, Dr. John Albers. It is good to be coming home!
was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Schnurr on May 18, 2019, after attending both Bishop Simon Bruté College Seminary and Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West for major
seminary. Before all of that, I grew up in Mason as the second of four boys. I do have one adorable niece who I like to tell stories about. Don’t hold it against me, but I attended Mason public schools k-12 before beginning college seminary. After ordination, I spent my first year of priesthood at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Anderson.
I never know what to write in these introduction letters, so I asked some IHM parishioners to ghost write this letter for me…they didn’t, but they did come up with a list. It is always interesting to hear what others think are the important things to share. Here are a few of their highlights: very
funny mom & niece, was involved in youth group, deceptively reserved, likes fizzy water, best student driver we know, well-traveled, played sousaphone in marching band.
Just to explain the student driver quip…this same family thought it would be funny to put a ‘Caution Student Driver’ magnet on my bumper. It just so happened I drove all over the Greater Cincinnati area that day and didn’t notice until the end of the day. I probably deserved the prank for some other prank that I pulled.
One of my favorite quotes is somewhat cliché from St. Jean Vianney, but worth sharing, “The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus.” I promise that I will do the best that I can to be the love of the heart of Jesus for all of you. Everything is for the salvation of souls. My hope is to do everything that I can to help Fr. McCullough draw more souls to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. I pray that as a parish we may always remember the words of Our Lord from the Cross, Behold, Your Mother, and always turn to our Blessed Mother for strength, guidance, and protection. In her perfect and tender motherly way, she is always drawing us closer to her Son. With Mary more souls will be won for Christ!
I look forward to meeting you all! This will be somewhat more difficult because of the enduring limitations due to COVID-19, but the work of Christ must continue.
