There are two wonderful opportunities for the young people of WWPR that I will highlight today: Totus Tuus and Serviam. TOTUS TUUS—July 26-30! First, Totus Tuus is Latin for ‘Totally Yours’ and a phrase popularized at the moto of the pontificate of Pope St. John Paul II. I have been blessed to be involved with Totus Tuus at several parishes and we are very excited to be able to offer it here in the WWPR. One of its greatest strengths is that college students and seminarians spend their summers as missionaries going from parish to parish to witness to the Gospel to the young people. Totus Tuus will replace VBS, but I promise you that it is well worth the swap! It offers just as much fun but with stronger formation in prayer and teaching the truths of the faith. Also, rather than only being for younger students, Totus Tuus has something to offer students from 1st grade through seniors in high school. Grades 1-6 meet during the day while there is an evening program for junior high and high school students.
Totus Tuus’ five pillars are catechesis, Eucharistic devotion, Marian devotion, vocational discernment, and Christian witness. And they have a solid foundation of fun on top of all of that. Never a dull moment when walking through the halls during Totus Tuus week! This year they will focus on virtues and beatitudes along with the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.
Keep a look out as we get closer for more information on how to register your students. Also, see more information about volunteer opportunities for this week in the Faith Formation portion of the bulletin. Please contact Dave Nissen if you have any questions about. We look forward to seeing many of you there! SERVIAM Sticking with the Latin name theme…Serviam is Latin for ‘I will serve.’ Serviam is new and starting here at WWPR—so who doesn’t want to be a part of something new and exciting?! Serving at the Mass is an incredible gift and privilege—what an honor to be that close to the Holy Sacrifice! To help with this, we are excited to invite all current WWPR servers to Serviam with Fr. Jeff. The ultimate goal of Serviam is to make sure we are giving God our best in assisting at Holy Mass. Serviam will be three nights of reviewing server practices followed by fun, adventurous comradery. Like we might be playing some shaving cream whiffle ball, just maybe. We’d love to have all servers attend all three nights at each parish. Serviam will be 3 Tuesday nights from 7-9pm beginning July 13 at OLR, July 20 at St. Matthias, skip a week for Totus Tuus, and wrap up August 3 at St. James. Information on how to register will be sent out using the Ministry Scheduler Pro or you can email me at [email protected]. I am definitely looking forward to this opportunity to streamline and polish our serving along with goofing off in the process. While I take the Mass very seriously, I also take my fun very seriously as well! With these two events, it is looking to be a great summer of growing closer to our Eucharistic Lord here in the Winton Wyoming Pastoral Region! Fr. Jeff Stegbauer
