Hope of the Poor is coming to town 11/30-12/2! I am pumped and you should be too! I am blessed to call Craig Joring, one of the founders/directors of Hope of the Poor, a close friend, and I would love for all of you to meet him. He is an incredible disciple of Jesus Christ and lives the Gospel with great joy. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Danny yet, but I do know a bit about him. Both Craig and Danny have an immense love of Jesus and Our Lady of Guadalupe. That love drives the mission. What is better than that?! If that isn’t reason enough for you to come to the three-night mission, here are some other reasons.
1.I have been to Mexico City twice with Craig. He knows a lot of stories about me. Some embarrassing. He will probably share some of those stories. 2. Danny is a talented musician—look up Danny Leger Music online to listen. 3. You will hear more about how you can join our parishes on a mission to Mexico City in September, 2022. 4. Hope of the Poor does amazing work with the poor in Mexico City and Omaha, Nebraska. It is worth hearing about, as it will challenge you and inspire you. They bring single mothers off the streets and find stability. They love the people who live and work in the city dump—a group who very few are willing to visit, let alone love. They share hot coffee with the homeless of Omaha to hear their stories and pray with them. You will hear stories of Jesus’ mercy in action. 5. MOST IMPORTANT REASON: If we receive the message well, I firmly believe it will help us to live out the identity of the Church more fully—to worship, to evangelize, and to care for the poor. As our pastor often says, “It is all about the salvation of souls.” Hope of the Poor makes the Gospel simple and direct. Simple does not mean easy. After missions, they pass out bracelets that read a Mi me lo hiciste (You did for me, Matthew 25:40). That is at the heart of how they live as Christian disciples. I firmly believe that it will help us to focus on Christ and the salvation of souls as we enter into the difficult changes ahead with Beacons of Light.
Craig and Hope of the Poor helped me to fall more in love with Jesus and Our Lady of Guadalupe. For that, I am forever grateful, and I want to share that with all of you. I hope to see you there for however many nights you are able to attend. Hopefully all 3! Our Lady of Guadalupe…pray for us! In Christ, Fr. Jeff
