In what began with Safe Haven Sunday on February 7, 2021, we are eager to continue the fight against pornography. Pornography is an evil industry that the evil one is using to blind God’s children from the mercy and light of Christ. We cannot stand for this; we cannot let the evil one have this victory. Let us go courageously with Christ into battle to destroy this plague that is impacting too many individuals and families. If you haven’t had the chance to read through Equipped and sign up for its 7-day email challenge (by texting SECURE to 66866), please take the time to do so soon. If you weren’t able to pick up a copy, please let us know, as we do have extra copies.
As a parish, we commit to walking this journey with you; you do not have to walk it alone. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to talk to the priests of WWPR. As a part of this commitment, we are also excited to introduce a new medium for us to continually share new information and resources with you. We had added a new page on the website—Fight against Pornography. You can find it under the Faith Formation tab or by going to https://wintonwyomingpr.org/fight-against-pornography.
This page currently has two subpages with additional resources: ‘General Resources’ and ‘For Parents and Grandparents.’ We will be adding helpful content and resources to these pages for you and the various ways that pornography impacts families and individuals, whether you are striving to protect your children from their first exposure, your children have already been exposed, or you yourself struggle with an addiction. Please check out the website and the resources that are available. Two homilies that can be used as reflections in this fight are posted under ‘General Resources.’ One is on spiritual warfare and the other is from Safe Haven Sunday itself. The fight against pornography is a battle. The evil one wants us to lose, and our Lord is pouring Himself out for our victory, so it is crucial for us to reflect and appreciate the battle from both sides. Jesus loves to heal and to share His mercy and forgiveness. With Christ, we can support each other as a region. With Christ, we can keep our children safe and pure. With Christ, we can have victory in this fight against pornography. Let us pray for one another. Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael…pray for us! In Mary’s Immaculate Heart, Fr. Jeff
