The mission that Jesus gave to his disciples is to “go and make the disciples.” (Matthew 28:19). Those who have been sponsors to RCIA candidates witness that not only the candidates, but also the sponsors and teachers, benefit greatly from
understanding the implications of the liturgical, catechetical, and pastoral dimensions of discipleship.
The RCIA process seeks to prepare people to understand the eternal truths and, most importantly, to fall in love with an eternal Lover. My experience with RCIA is that the participants come to fall in love with the person of Jesus.
I am inviting you to please consider bringing a family member or a friend to RCIA, especially when you realize that he or she needs to know more about the person of Jesus and meet Him personally. With the teaching and converting aspects of the liturgy and the loving witness of the community, the RCIA program will be the light for the path of faith in Christ. Also, consider becoming an RCIA sponsor yourself!
Stop and talk with a priest or a deacon after Mass about the RCIA process. You may also call or email Dave Nissan, Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization in the WWPR: [email protected]
