Hello!
In the midst of the whirlwind of unpacking, settling in, and alphabetizing my books (which is one of my favorite pastimes, by the way), I just wanted to put a quick note on the website thanking everyone for their incredibly enthusiastic support and welcome over this past week. It seems like it will be weeks or months before I am fully caught up and aware of all the goings-on in the region, but in the meantime I have very much enjoyed getting to meet people and start the process of putting faces to names. In the future, I hope to share reflections on the readings as well as goings-on of the region in this column, but today I write for another purpose entirely: to boldly invite myself into your homes for dinner. When I started my last assignment, I used each of my first six weekend Masses to tell people that I am not a picky eater and I was in fact the three-time Guacamole Contest Winner at Mt. St. Mary’s of the West. So, if you are willing to tolerate me coming into your house, you’ll probably at least get some good guac in return.
Many folks at St. I’s took me up on this offer, and one parishioner gave me a great idea: instead of just crashing dinners, try crashing group dinners to cover more bases at once. So, this is my (obtrusive) way of saying that you should get some friends from the parish together, and I’ll come over and bring guacamole and maybe a guitar or banjo or some such. Please give me a call at 513-376-7744 or send me an email if you’d be interested in rewarding my rash self-invitation, and we’ll set up a time so we can get to know each other better. Again, thanks for you kind welcome, and know that you all remain in my continued prayers.
