Father Pete Helmlinger.
Reverend Peter M. Helmlinger died on Monday, June 10, 2019. He was born on April 21, 1954 in Sidney, Ohio. He received a B.A in philosophy from Thomas More College, Kentucky, and received a Master’s in Divinity from The Athenaeum of Ohio, Cincinnati. He was ordained on May 22, 2004 at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk.
Father Helmlinger received his first assignment on July 1, 2004 as Parochial Vicar at Incarnation Parish, Centerville. On July 1, 2008, he was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Greenhills, (Cincinnati), for a period of six years. On June 1, 2011, he was appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Matthias Parish, Cincinnati while continuing as Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. Father Helmlinger retired July 1, 2014.
On Monday, June 17, 2019 there will be a holy hour and memorial Mass for Fr. Pete at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. The holy hour will begin at 6:00 PM and will include a rosary adn prayers for Fr. Pete. The Mass starts at 7:00 PM and will be followed by refreshments in the Gathering Room.
Funeral Arrangements
Reception of the Body: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, S. Main & Water Streets, Sidney, Ohio 45365; (937-498-2307). Celebrant: Reverend Steven L. Shoup.
Visitation: immediately following at the church until the Mass of Christian Burial.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Church. Celebrant: Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr. Homilist: Reverend John W. Tonkin.
Burial: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 immediately following Mass of Christian Burial at Graceland Cemetery, S. Main Avenue, Sidney, Ohio 45365. Celebrant: Reverend Steven L. Shoup.
Fr. Pete offered us a wonderful, down to earth, gentle spirit and a great feel for the parishioners’ struggles of trying to live their faith in the “real” world.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let
perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls
of all the faithful departed, through the mercy
of God, rest in peace.
