So where do we go to ask the big questions? We are beginning a new ministry in the Winton Wyoming Pastoral Region that hopes to help our parishioners, their friends and family members answer the big questions. We will begin running Alpha courses in our region this fall. Alpha was developed as a short course at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, UK in 1990. Nicky Gumbel took over running Alpha and found that many people outside of the church wanted to explore the Christian faith. Alpha now runs in every part of the global church, including the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and all mainline Protestant denominations. The Alpha course will be run as a weekly gathering involving food, a talk and then discussion among the participants. Each week will focus on questions of faith such as: Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus and why did he die? How can I make the most of the rest of my life? etc… To prepare for this ministry we plan to offer a pilot Alpha beginning April 24 for people who might be interested in helping to lead this outreach. This will be an awesome opportunity to share our faith with others and hopefully help them see how relevant our faith can be. “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’” Matthew 9:37-38. I do believe the harvest is plentiful. Let’s start answering some of the BIG questions! If you want to be involved, please contact Dave Nissen.
