The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is saddened by the sudden tragic loss of Fr. Chris Coleman, pastor of WWPR since July 1, 2014. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr celebrated the funeral Mass at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral on Friday, July 14. While we grieve for Fr. Chris, we stand united and we comfort each other. In his visit to the region, Bishop Joseph Binzer assures the WWPR faith community of support from the Archdiocese. Father Lambert Ulinzwenimana will continue to minister to the Region. We thank other priests who are willing to help out with weekday and weekend Masses.
A sincere "thank you" to all who participated in our celebration of Fr. Chris' life and service last week. Whether you joined the Reception of the Body and Funeral Mass at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, visited St. Matthias for the post-funeral reception or attended the Memorial Mass last Wednesday, we hope you found healing in coming together as Fr. Chris' church family.
The sudden tragic loss of our pastor is bound to raise questions about what happens next in our region. During this transition to a new pastor, Parochial Vicar Fr. Lambert Ulinzwenimana will continue to celebrate Mass and sacraments and minister to WWPR parishioners with deacons Dominic Hoang Vu, Walt Hucke, Steve Ryan and Matt Skinner. We are also counting on additional priests to help us maintain our weekly and daily Mass schedule.
Fr. Chris Coleman's regional Memorial Mass will be held 7pm Wednesday, July 19, at OLR, with Auxiliary Bishop Joseph R. Binzer as the main celebrant. Concelebrating will be Fr. Lambert Ulinzwenimana, WWPR parochial vicar. All are invited to participate.
