Each day is a blessing as it is each month and each year. Our daily prayers are an expression of our thanksgiving to the blessings we receive daily. Many of us pray a rosary everyday. The rosary connects us to Mary as children with their Mother. Also, throughout the liturgical year, the church celebrates Marian solemnities, feasts and memorials. Beginning this September, I invite you to our “WWPR Monthly Marian Celebration”. It would be an evening of fellowship, adoration, rosary and Marian prayers. Let’s pray for our families, our country and the whole world through the intercession of Our Mother Mary, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. Join us in the celebration of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15 at St. Matthias Parish. More details in next week’s bulletin.
Have you found a ministry that fits you? Build your parish by your gifts! Maybe you say, “I am busy all week long! I don’t even find time for myself. I can’t help my family enough either. I am always running and the only day I can rest is my one day off a week! How and where can I get more time for the church?" Dear brothers and sisters, each one of you is a gift and a very special gift to our parish and the region. You have special gifts that God has given you that are always with you, at home, at work, and at church. Your gifts do not appear and disappear when you pass though the doors of our church. You have received them to be used in your daily life to bring the kingdom of God.
Our Lady of the Rosary will be conducting a workshop for new servers on Wednesday, September 13, from 6:30 pm-8 pm and Saturday, September 16, from 8 am-9:30 am. All new servers and at least one parent are required to attend one of the workshops. Current servers are also welcome to attend. Please contact Deacon Matt with any questions or if you know of a young person who is interested in serving: [email protected].
The mission that Jesus gave to his disciples is to “go and make the disciples.” (Matthew 28:19). Those who have been sponsors to RCIA candidates witness that not only the candidates, but also the sponsors and teachers, benefit greatly from understanding the implications of the liturgical, catechetical, and pastoral dimensions of discipleship.
Last weekend Archbishop Schnurr assigned Fr. Mike Pucke as Administrator to the Winton Wyoming Pastoral Region for a period of six months. Over the last 30 years, Fr. Mike has worked with the Maryknoll Missionaries in Chile, South America (1986-1992); served as Pastor of St. Michael’s, Sharonville (1993-2005) and St. Julie Billiart, Hamilton (2005-2017), where he recently announced his retirement. No stranger to fundraising, Fr. Mike says the parish raised $500K to do capital improvements and delayed maintenance. Please welcome and thank Fr. Pucke for his willingness to serve the Winton Wyoming Pastoral Region during the transition to a new pastor.
Please join us for the first Assembly of Disciples gathering at St. Matthias on August 26 after the 4:30 Mass. The Winton Wyoming Pastoral Region has a lot to offer in terms of both faith formation and evangelization. The Assembly of Disciples is designed to provide you with the opportunity to hear about how to engage in and support these awesome ministries. It seems time is always the limiting factor. With so many worthy causes it is sometimes difficult to prioritize where to best give our time. The Assembly of Disciples will gather three times each year, once at each of our parishes, to provide an overview of the different ministry opportunities in our region and how they work together toward our overall mission.
On behalf of St. Matthias Parishioners and WWPR staff, I would like to thank Archbishop Dennis Schnurr for leading the milestone celebration of 50th anniversary and Father Mike Pucke for accepting the assignment as an Administrator of our region. I thank also, OLR and STJ Parish councils, members, and parishioners who joined in St. Matthias’ celebration.
This Sunday, August 6, 2017, St. Matthias Parish celebrates its 50th anniversary. We thank Archbishop Dennis C. Schnurr for marking this special milestone anniversary by celebrating the Holy Mass with the parish community. This celebration makes us reflect on the rich history of the St. Matthias community and of our two other parishes as well. Also, we look to the present moment and to the future. A special thank you to the people who have been active at St. Matthias Parish during these 50 years. So, to all St. Matthias parishioners I say, “Stay Golden!”
