Deacon Matt was raised in Forest Park, Ohio. He was baptized, made his first Holy Communion, and was confirmed at Our Lady of the Rosary and has been a lifelong parishioner. He attended grade school at Our Lady of the Rosary school and graduated from Roger Bacon High School where the Franciscan values of holiness and learning, self-discipline and compassion were instilled in him.
He earned associate and bachelor degrees from the University of Cincinnati; a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton School Of Law; and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry degree from The Athenaeum of Ohio.
He is employed as Senior Associate Counsel at The Cincinnati Insurance Company in Fairfield, Ohio. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Roger Bacon High School.
Deacon Matt’s journey began at the New Life Retreat at Our Lady of the Rosary in 2009 where he first experienced the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Jesus Christ was made known to him in the breaking of the bread. This began a very unexpected journey that put him first in the Lay Pastoral Ministry Program at the Athenaeum then in diaconate formation at the Athenaeum and then finally to ordination to the Permanent Diaconate on April 30, 2016.
